witnesses brag that they are the most honest people in the world!.
but, they teach their followers that it's ok to lie if someone is not "entitled" to know the truth.. .
I see it all the time on Yahoo Answers. An ex-JW or JW critic will mention one of inconvenient truths about JW doctrine or policy and a JW will give an answer denying it and accusing the critic of lying. It seems they have a different definition of lying. To them lying means saying something about JWs that they don't like. I have seen a JW give an answer denying a claim by a critic only to give a clarification that is essentially the same as the critic claimed only with more diplomatic language. To illustrate, if a critic says Jehovah's Witnesses stole 12 eggs. A JW will say no that's not true, Jehovah's Witnesses only borrowed 1 dozen eggs without permission and just haven't returned it yet.
noah, my movie review.
you may have already judged this film and you've never seen it!
like many of its critics, you think you know what you're going to see and .
Personally, I don't think it's ever wise to do a movie based on a book and deviate from the story in the book - especially a book as well known as the bible. You're setting yourself up for failure. Why? Because chances are that a sizable portion of the people going to see the movie will be those who read and enjoyed the book and are going to see the movie with certain expectations based on the book. When those expectations aren't met - even if the movie is good on its own merits outside of its lack of conformity to the book - the audience comes away feeling somewhat dissappointed and cheated - like they're being lied to. It's human psychology 101. It amazes me that movie producers just don't seem to get that.

I didn't like it.
They're very good at preparing for and pulling off events like conventions. They're very good at planning and managing events.
What else? I can't think of anything else, that's about it.
hello guys and gals!.
have you ever wondered why jehovah's witnesses think they're better than everyone else?.
well, here's pov (point of view) of a jehovah's witness.
Excellent!
It would be cracking good if someone does a dramatic narration of it in a youtube video with some appropriate still images and an appropriate musical score.
i seem to think it was a november wt issue but can't remember precisely, but it was probably printed within the last three years.
after being told for years and years that everyone not a jw would be destroyed, this was amazing to see in print!
yet when i pointed it out to others, they just shrugged it off and left me wondering what i was missing.... does this ring a bell with anyone?.
You will find no such article in any Watchtower from recent decades. All you will find is ambiguous spin from the Watchtower worded to give the impression that some non-JWs could possibly survive. But you will not find any direct and explicit statements about many non-JWs surviving. The Watchtower is very careful to maintain the line that you must be baptized in association with the organization to have any valid hope of being saved at Armageddon. The only concessions they will make is for non-JW minor children of JW parents and the 'progressive bible studies' of JWs.
the kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses is having a memorial celebration on april 14, 2014 at 7:05 pm pst at the westlake hyatt in westlake village, ca, usa.. i am thinking about greeting celebratants as they leave with poster(s) and business cards with qr codes for www.jwfacts.com and www.freedomofmind.com.
my intent is not to debate or convert "spiritual strong" (non-thinking) jws, but to provide life-saving information to "spiritually weak" (still thinking) jws suffering from the wtbts's "undue influence" and bite control.
i might even be eating crackers (and cheese) and drinking red wine at the exit.. my plan is to place up to three posters across from the exit of the celebration and then place business-size cards with "critically think for yourself" and qr codes on the back.
Here's an idea for a poster:
"The first to state his case seems right, Until the other party comes and cross-examines him." - Proverbs 18:17
If you listen only to the first party you could be decieved by his seemingly right but false claims. You have to also scrutinize the claims of the opposing party to determine what is the whole truth.
Would you trust a judge who instructs the jury to listen only to the defense and to refuse to see any evidence or hear any submissions from the prosecution?
Dictatorial and unethical regimes use censorship to keep the populace ignorant of certain inconvenient truths. Ignorance facilitates deception and manipulation.

To help a JW you have to think like a JW.
Calling them a cult is not going to get their attention. It would actually be counter-productive. You will only get them to put up their defenses and see you as just a slandersous apostate as per Watchtower's portrayal of apostates.
They will read the title that says "critically think for yourself" and in their minds they will think: "See? He is so far gone he's now promoting independent thinking. Blind aposate!". You would only be confirming all the prejudices and indoctrination that Watchtower has planted in their minds.
The best way to help a JW is to use scripture and Watchtower's own arguments and reasoning to show them the hypocrisy and flaws in Watchtower teachings and policy. Avoid using terms and reasonings that would trigger their indoctrination and validate the Watchtower propaganda they've been fed.

if a witness tells you that jesus commanded you to go to the memorial, how would you respond?.
" If a Witness tells you that Jesus commanded you to go to the Memorial, how would you respond?"
Me: "Can you show me in the bible where Jesus told his followers to go to the memorial?"
JW: "It's right here in Luke 22: . . . It says: 'keep doing this in rememberance of me""
Me: "What was he telling them keep doing: just going to the memorial, or actually partaking of the bread and the wine in rememberance of him? What were the clear instructions in the preceding verses?"
JW: "But only those with the heavenly hope are to partake. . ."
Me: "So Jesus did not actually command going to the memorial as if that were an end in and of itself. What he commanded was partaking at the memorial and attending is just a necessary means toward that end. So it is actually very misleading to claim that Jesus commanded us to attend the memorial.
Jesus mentioned no exceptions when he instructed his followers to partake. The memorial is a memorial of Jesus' sacrificial death on behalf of allwho exercise faith. It is not a memorial of the establishment of a covenant with an elite few. All who accept Jesus' sacrifice and stand to benefit from it whether you believe in heaven or on earth should partake because Jesus gave his life for all - not just an elite few.
Therefore, those who refuse to partake of the bread and the wine in order to obey the fallible teachings of men - men who at one time did not even accurately understand the significance of the bread - are actually disobeying Jesus' explicit command to partake and are not worthy of being considered by christ as being his followers, because they put the teachings of men above christ's clear instructions.
So I will not be accepting your invitation to join you and your friends in your act of flagrant disobedience to Jesus' clear instructions. I will not join you in your apostasy!"
